redid my blog for monday

Monday, this is both a boring and inspiring day for me. Boring because its the beginning of a work week. Inspiring cause this enables me to get my week scheduled more streamlined, get up early goto work, etc. get things in the breaks etc. It brings some discipline in my otherwise disorganized schedule.

This monday was no different. I changed my schedule to a few minutes later so that I get more time in the morning. Now that it gets dark in the evening it doesn't matter when I leave, so leaving a bit later is not that bad. I am going to hit traffic either way. Not that its a lot of traffic but still.

My coworker assigned me some work and took off on vacation. I should have it done, by the time he comes back. He is a new addition to our team and I am glad to have him aboard. It feels good to have another guy on the team. That way I am not alone when I have to face my micromanaging bitch boss. Also I now have someone to look up-to as a mentor, for some reason my bitch boss didn't seem to fit the role of mentor well. She just seems to be busy in coming up with new ways of micromanaging folks. It clearly shows that this is the first time she has been in any position of authority.

I sometimes think if I made the right choice working for a government organization. I guess its a  bit secure in bad economic times like this. But still the place if filled with bunch of old cranks, who sometimes seem disconnected from the way other private organizations function. I was one of the fist batch of students they started hiring after very long time. So there is a big gap between the supervisors and associate engineers. I am glad they are hiring more young engineers now.

Also civil services, for some reason hires the ugliest women. I guess you can't expect much in terms of beauty from female engineers but still. Edison, my previous company definitely had better talent than this place. I guess it's still better than having all guys. In this environment with all guys, spending 9-10 hrs at work, even the ugly girls start looking better.

Maybe I shouldn't be complaining, as this is probably a good thing, as messing around at work is not a good idea.
