March-Thursday Blog

The day started off just like any other day. I did not have time to shave and I was a little scruffy looking. Everything seemed fine until my boss came into my cubicle and handed over a paper to me. She said that I was in the top ten surfers list. She also said that I was being watched by big brother. She said that it was brought up by the managers and was not a big deal this time. She said that the department had an internet policy which needs to be followed. All this just seems to have been done just to scare people. The new management always likes to try new tricks. Those reports are so flawed, the previous management knew that those statistics were not reliable and just tossed those reports into the trash. I mean in my case it showed about twenty thousand hits from the same ip address. Overall I had so many hits that I would have had to been clicking every few seconds. The managers I hoped were smart enough to recognize this. But as one of my coworkers said, the managers seem to be brain dead.

I had an email notifying program that was constantly ping the mail server checking for new mail, which was generating all those visits. I explained it to my boss and she kind of understood it. I also tried explaining it to the manager but I don't know if he understood it. Anyways other than that I made progress on my control screen project. I got a lot of the screen working.

In the afternoon I had lunch with my coworkers. One of the female coworkers started talking about how woman's views of looks are different than men. When she said that I started off with the women viewing status over looks etc. but then I caught myself and told them that I did not want to get into it. I am glad I caught myself, as they would not understand. Later in the afternoon my coworker and I went and got frozen yogurt during break. I liked the frozen yogurt store, it was new and clean. I tried almost all the different varieties. I also got a yogurt card, so when I buy nine yogurts I get the tenth one free. I learned to be more careful with the programs running on my computer that use up the internet in the background; I also disconnect the network cable when leaving for home. Being on the surfer list has definitely thought me to be more cautious.
